Oxyura jamaicensis
Synopsis:
Local breeder primarily in south-central and southeast Oregon, but
also in northeast and north-central Oregon. Most
notable are the records from the Willamette Valley, especially away from
Fern Ridge Reservoir. Bred in Washington County
(Fernhill Wetlands) in 2000.

Lake/Pond Shoreline & Islands (343999 acres)
Relative Detectability:
Easy to spot and to confirm nesting, usually by noting
fledglings accompanied by adults.
Challenge:
Confirm breeding by pairs observed in late spring at any new
locations in western Oregon.
